Golden Light

Art Description

I did not intend to do this painting at first. There was an extra canvas lying around and I got the opportunity to paint it. I then painted a scenery of a forest. I decided to add a golden light (specifically known as ‘Komorebi’ in Japanese), which is an expression for sunlight as it filters through the trees. I have also included a rock in the shape of a skull. The whole painting is dark and cool at first glance but the main subject is the light (which is warm). I painted this to portray a symbol of hope and the beauty of light. The skull symbolizes death and the rock symbolizes nature, which shows how human beings are connected to nature.

About the Artist

As far as I can remember, I was interested in doing art from Class Three but I only started studying about art when I joined VAST Bhutan in 2018. I have learned to create art in various ways now and I have been exposed to a lot of mediums. I don’t have a specific favorite but I mostly use pencil, acrylic and oil. I love watching Anime and that is where I got my encouragement and fondness towards art. The landscapes portrayed in Anime films are immaculate and I want to create something similar.  I get inspired by the life and work of Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci.
