Art Description
The parasol or the umbrella represents the head of the Buddha, and protection from all harmful forces. It is said that in the world of suffering there are always rains of ignorance, ego and anger which prevent us from attaining enlightenment. Without the parasol one will not have the protection from the rain of suffering.
As the monk plays while holding the parasol one may become complacent with the joy of having a parasol and the many benefits behind it.
