Blue Poppy

Art Description

A sign of beauty

A symbol of grace

It’s not an opium-producing poppy

But a mythical mystical one.

The mesmerizing and hypnotically bright blue poppy, rare and endangered, the  national flower of Bhutan can survive the most extreme freezing temperatures. Its seeds take about two to three years to bloom, and the plant flowers only once, after which it turns to seeds  and eventually dies.

About the Artist

I pursued a degree in Hotel Management and Catering and graduated in 2018. I first discovered art when my brothers would paint and draw but was able to join VAST Bhutan only in 2020. In this short time I gained a lot of exposure which helped boost my skills and further my love for art. The mediums and techniques I usually use are acrylic, oil and watercolor. I continue to learn new mediums and techniques at VAST Bhutan.
